* Reaching Leh by Air : Leh is connected to new Delhi by a one hour flight. Air India,Spice Jet, Vistra operates regular flight. Air India also operates flight from Srinagar and Jammu on select days of the week.
* By Road from Srinagar : The 434 Kms Srinagar – Leh highway is open from mid May till middle of November. The journey takes two days with a night halt at Kargil.
* By road from Manali : The 473 Kms Manali – highway is open from middle Jun till mid October depend of weather conditions. The Journey takes two days with a night halt at Sarchu.
* Climate: The climate condition in Leh is mainly dry with little rainfall. Summer temperature rarely exceed 30 ℃ while in winter they plunge to -15 ℃
* Acclimatization: If you are travelling to Leh by Air, you must allow a full day of complete bed rest or rest in room reading with books and watching TV for acclimatization to the high altitude and low level of oxygen. High altitude sickness or Acute Mountain Sickness (AMS) is a serious condition that can be happen to anyone at the attitudes above 3000 Mtrs or 10000 fts. Tourists are advised complete rest for a day.
